Nashville's Off The Row Breakout Artist of 2020
J.B. Cross was born and raised in Sanford, Michigan. He fell in love with country music in high school when he was introduced to the likes of Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, and Tim McGraw. While his dream growing up was to play baseball, he always had a soft spot for the storytelling lyrics of country music. His baseball career took him to Michigan State University and while he was there began to teach himself the guitar and write his own songs.
While his baseball career ended at graduation, his love for music certainly did not. J.B. moved to metro-Detroit to work as an engineer in the automotive industry, but continued writing songs. He credits the loud manufacturing environment with being able to practice singing and new lyrics on the job. He eventually caught the eye of Nashville’s Off The Row Studio and was named one of their Breakout Artists of 2020.
